Whisky Sour Day!

Did you know that August 25th is National Whisky Sour Day? In honor of this auspicious occasion, a favorite Whisky Sour recipe of mine follows, courtesy of world renowned spirits distiller, Beam-Suntory.

The Whisky Sour

1 1/2 oz. Makers Mark Bourbon

1 1/2 oz. fresh lemon juice

3/4 oz. Simple Syrup

Garnish: maraschino cherry or lemon peel

Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake well. Strain into a chilled sour glass or over fresh ice in an old-fashioned glass. Garnish with a cherry or lemon peel.

Tips:

* Use fresh lemon juice!

* For simple syrup, mix and heat equal parts water and sugar in a small pot until the sugar is dissolved. Let it cool. Add a lemon peel to the boiling water for extra citrus flavor. Note: I keep simple syrup stored in the fridge.

* This recipe is based on using Makers Mark Bourbon. If you want to try another bourbon, or rye whisky, you may need to adjust the balance of sweet and sour.

We offer a large selection of competitively priced, high-quality whiskeys that are sure to jazz up any of your favorite cocktails!
